With the writers' strike finally coming to a close, the networks are focusing on figuring out how quickly they can re-launch their scripted shows to the airwaves. Fans would be happy to know that a number of shows will be back with new episodes in around April or May, meaning that the wait for new content is almost over. In fact, the CW recently announced the number of episodes they plan to produce for the rest of the season for shows such as Supernatural, Smallville, Gossip Girl, and One Tree Hill.



A lot of new shows from other networks are on hold and will be returning in the fall, but the CW plans to have Reaper and Gossip Girl back. Reaper has three pre-strike episodes remaining and they will continue on with five or six more, which will be shot in April or May. As for Gossip Girl, which has already run out of new episodes a few weeks ago, the show is also set to have five or six episodes shot around the same time.



Now that it's been publicized, many are wondering on what time slot these shows will be airing in. The CW recently moved Gossip Girl reruns to Monday nights, and planned to air Reaper episodes in Supernatural's Thursday 9pm slot. But since Supernatural will be filming four to five new installments for April or May, it's not yet clear whether Reaper gets to stay in that timeslot.



Smallville, on the other hand, still has four pre-strike episodes remaining and will be shooting five or six additional installments to complete the current season. One Tree Hill, with pre-strike episodes set to air, will also be shooting the same amount. As for Life is Wild, no one is sorry to hear that the show isn't returning for another season.



This is pretty much great news for fans of the CW, as their favorite shows will be returning to the airwaves. A couple of months will be worth the wait.
