In Big Brother 9’s first nomination episode, we not only get to know who are in the danger zone but we are also given a chance to glimpse at the private lives of some of the contestants.



For one, Amanda opens up to Chelsia, James and Niel about her dad. She starts by saying that she doesn’t care if people thinks she’s dumb because of her voice, because she has faced more serious things in her life. Amanda confides that her father, whom she is very close to, committed suicide. While she was in class during her college days, her father left her a voice mail before hanging himself. Although she ponders on the what-might-have-beens had she answered the phone, she still chooses to be optimistic and stay strong.



Alex also showed Amanda a special cross made of steel. He reveals that the steel came from the World Trade Center , where his father died during the 9/11 attack. Amanda, on the other hand is touched upon finding her dad’s favorite CD in her gift basket. She feels that there’s another angel watching over her.



Much of the focus of the show dwells on the forbidden affair between Ryan and Jen. Allison frequently threatens to reveal the secret, until Jen and Parker decides to come clean with the rest of the members and tell them the truth. As expected, they got surprised reactions from everyone. Joshua suggests that everyone should swear on a Bible that there are no other secret couples inside the house. They take their oaths seriously but James also reminds everyone that it is not impossible that they will all eventually lie to stay on the game.

At the first nomination episode, Adam and Amanda reminded contestants that they have to compete, nominate and evict as couples. In the end, the couples nominated for eviction turned out to be Ryan & Allison and Jen & Parker. Amanda believes that the Ryan-Allison team-up is a threat. Alex, on the other hand, thinks it best if Jen & Parker exit the house. Allison is thinking of every possible way to get Jen out but Jen believes that it is Ryan who should leave.
